Come in and enjoy a flight or glass of wine with us while enjoying live music performed by Nomad and the best fried chicken in town prepared by Kickin’ Chicken
This is going to be a very special Friday at Stockwell Cellars. Our winemaker, Eric Stockwell, had the unique pleasure of working with a very talented and passionate group of people to build a tremendously large wave made from golf balls pulled from the ocean in Pebble Beach. This was all done in an effort to bring about the awareness of stray golf balls being let to fly into our oceans and disturb our marine life here on the central coast. Come and learn more about this incredible wave and its significance.
Here’s the back story.
As a teenager, Alex Weber (Founder, The Plastic Pick-Up) collected over 50,000 golf balls off the seafloor near Pebble Beach, CA. After publishing an influential scientific study revealing how they break up and release toxic compounds into the water, she teamed up with Santa Cruz artist Ethan Estess (Director, CountercurrentArt.org) to turn 20,000 of these golf balls into a giant interactive wave sculpture. Visitors can stand on surfboards inside the golf ball wave to experience the scale of the plastic pollution issue and be inspired to make a positive impact at their local beach.
